In 2024, Parra reunited with Vans to reimagine the iconic Half Cab silhouette, marking their first collaboration since 2009. This partnership celebrated Parra’s roots in skateboarding and his evolution as a visual artist, culminating in a design that seamlessly blended heritage with contemporary artistry.
The collaboration debuted with a Friends & Family edition, unveiled during Paris Fashion Week and coinciding with Go Skateboarding Day. This exclusive release featured a red, white, and blue colorway, paying homage to the French flag and Parra’s European heritage. Limited to 300 pairs, it became an instant collector’s item.
Building on this momentum, the public release introduced a more vibrant palette, incorporating Parra’s signature hues of pink, blue, green, and orange. The design showcased wavy suede overlays, custom bird graphics on the tongue and collar labels, and the year “1992”—a nod to the original Half Cab’s debut. Each pair was packaged in a custom box adorned with Parra’s distinctive artwork, enhancing its appeal to both sneaker enthusiasts and art aficionados.
Released on September 24, 2024, through OTW by Vans and select retailers, the Parra x Vans Half Cab exemplified a harmonious fusion of skate culture and artistic expression, solidifying Parra’s legacy in both realms.
