With their seventh studio album, People Who Aren’t There Anymore, Future Islands combined evocative visuals, innovative stage design, and strategic collaborations, culminating in the band’s highest UK chart position to date, and the band’s largest headline touring to date.
Creative Highlights
Theatrical Stage Design: Collaborated with stage designer Chiara Stephenson and lighting designer Matt Daw to craft a dynamic set featuring multi-level platforms, an arched entrance, and ambient lighting for their first proper theatrical touring production.
Television Appearances: Debuted the single “King of Sweden” on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and supported the campaign with an additional blistering performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. PWATA also presented the band’s UK chat show debut, on the UK’s Sunday Brunch.
Fan Engagement: Launched a throwback pop-up shop at Tower Records in New York City, offering fans an intimate performance, record signings, and exclusive merchandise ahead of the album release. Partnered with All Press Coffee for a custom brew in UK locations, and collaborated with Blood Records on limited-edition vinyl featuring unique artwork.
